And now to the topic. Lately I've finished installation of master cylinder and it's linkage. As told previously, the mater cylinder is from dodge truck and the brake booster is from some late 70's dodge aspen. They fit together with no mods needed, but that combo don't fit Signet with out custom made brackets and linkage. Reason for using this combo is simply that they were around and cheap. The booster I had already (I've owned for at least ten years and don't even remember where I got it in the first place) for the cylinder I paid 20 Euros at local you-pull-it junk yard. Cheap, easy to find and technically correct parts for my setup, so why not?
Fabricating the needed brackets and linkage wasn't very big job. It ain't no space technology. Before starting I was wondering whether to hire or fabricate original style parts or just do it in the hillbilly style. The original style is little bit complicated with more moving parts. That is because it was originally designed not to only mount brake booster on a-body mopars, but as well to move it further away from the engine to make room for V8 engines. Signet is not and will never be an V8 powered car, so there is no need for relocating the booster/cylinder combo. And so down the hillbilly road I went.
The slide show below shows how I did the installation! by the way, I've been thinking to start making videos too. But don'n know what you guys might want to see, so if you have an idea about videos, drop me a line!
